I was notified on New Year’s day that one of my illustrations was accepted by the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles into the Illustration West 47 annual.

“Over 140 artworks created by artists all over the world were chosen by a panel of renowned illustrators and art directors, and we will announce the winners among them for Joseph Morgan Henninger Award (Best of Show) and the Patrick Nagel Award (For Excellence) on opening night.”

The piece that was accepted was one I did for Benjamen Purvis back when he was at The Las Vegas Weekly. It was titled, “Doth Anyone Read Anymore?” and it was a satirical portrait of an annoyed William Shakespeare.

I have an account on the ispot which happens to be a well known (large) online illustration site.

It also has an interesting blog.

Please feel free to visit my page there if you are interested.

The Job from Hell

While I was in San Francisco attending the Illustration Academy, I was notified that The Las Vegas Advertising Federation had honored a design project I contributed illustrations to with a Gold Addy!

Thanks to everyone for inviting me to be a part of The Job From Hell!

Mailing lists

Adbase is an online custom list service for design professionals. They tout themselves as a “The easiest way to reach new clients”. After using them for a couple of years, I like them—especially because they make e-mail campaigns as painless as possible.

agency-accessIf you want an alternative mailing list service, then how about Agency Access? They recently acquired Steven Langerman Lists (consolidation goes on—world without end.)

Brands of the World

Another great website is Brands of the world. A colleague who used to work at Virgen Advertising mentioned this site once and expressed some reluctance to share such a useful website for fear that popularity might cause its demise. Here it is anyway!

Original Art is Superior to Stock

Something to think about.

Illustration Academy

The Illustration Academy is held in Richmond Virginia (it used to be held in Independence Missouri) and brings students together with some of the best professional illustrators working today. Worth every penny if you are serious about illustration.
